JALLMAY ALTO FOLCLOR PERÚ

Peru, long-shaped, located in the west of South America, is surrounded by Ecuador, Colombia, Brazil, Bolivia, Chile, and the Pacific Ocean. Its capital Lima, a vast urban area, is the largest city in the country.

The climate is tropical in the east, desert and dry in the west. These coastal deserts are caused by the presence of a south-north ocean current, therefore cold, which travels up the Pacific coast, blocking evaporation and the formation of rainy disturbances. In the Andes, a vast chain of mountains, the climate is temperate to cold depending on altitude. There is volcanic activity in the central area of the Andes, located to the south of the country. One can distinguish three large natural areas: the "costa" bordered by the Pacific Ocean, the "sierra" mountain area and the "selva", Peruvian Amazon forest.

If topography is a natural barrier that has allowed the development of regional dances, in some regions the dances are so numerous that each village has its own. This is the case of Cuzco or Puno. Folklore has also integrated the traditions of Spanish and particularly African immigrants. The national dance is 'la marinera'.

The music of the coast can be divided into two sub-categories: that of African origin and music of colonial origin. The dances and music styles are also detailed by region. The bright and varied colors of Peruvian clothes may be an echo of an old proverbial advice: "don’t dress in black because life is not a misfortune, nor in white because it is not joy in the hearts of others every day."

The Cultural Association "Jallmay", in Quechua "plow the land", was founded in 1996. The fundamental objective of this association is the promotion of cultural diversity through the safeguarding of intangible heritage in its various manifestations. The most active branch of this association is "Jallmay Alto Folclor", a dance company that was created in 1998.

This ensemble, whose current director is Humberto VALDIVIA YOPLAC, consists of sixty artists, including children, young people and adults. This group has performed in more than thirty countries and on all continents. It is among the best troops of Peru. The music and dances presented are inspired by the living culture of Peru. The members of this group are capable of producing all kinds of artistic and cultural activities and intervening in all matters related to Peruvian folklore. His show has the originality to give a precise image of the great regions of Peru that nourish the authentic culture of an amazing country of diversity. Immense by its size, relatively sparsely populated, Peru is a land of legends and truths.

We know today of this country a certain number of tourist sites but we ignore a lot of its soul. We know the major stages of a civilization that dates back to the 10th century BC and came to die under the violence of the Hispanic conquerors, attracted by the gold of the Incas and fascinated by the originality of this civilization. She was one of the most brilliant on our planet.
