TUMOR
Central Asia is one of the regions in the world where people have mingled most, and the territory of today’s Uzbekistan has served as a place of exchange. It was the crossroads of the great silk roads that connected Europe to China, via the oases of Kokand, Samarkand and Bukhara.
In ancient times, the Uzbeks maintained trade and cultural relations with the peoples of China, India, Iran, the Arab countries, the Mediterranean, Eastern Europe, the Caucasus and Siberia. They were the center of the world and above all at the heart of the greatest cultural melting pot that has ever existed.
Successively, this region will experience the influences of Alexander the Great, Greek culture, Turkey, which from five hundred years after Jesus Christ becomes the great regional potentate and finally Islam since the Arabs settled there at the end of the seventh century. The National Folk Ensemble "Tumor" reflects this great cultural variety. His show is a journey on the Silk Road, to meet civilizations.
Uzbek music is characterized by a wide variety of genres. You can divide songs and music into two groups. Those performed at specific moments of life in society and those improvised. To the first group are related songs related to rites, work, ceremonies or games that mark the Uzbek calendar.
Uzbek music is known for its traditional songs called "kochouk". Composed of small verses, poetic, they tell the daily life but also the news of a village.
In the tradition of this country, dancers are constantly in dialogue with the orchestra and singers. The dances are very different from one region to another in Uzbekistan. Those in the Fergana area are distinguished by their ease and eloquence of movement. The step is easy and slippery, the movements are original and executed in a circle. In Khoresm and Bukhara, we dance with percussions called "kayrakam". The National Folk Ensemble "Tumor" presents several dozen paintings that reflect the extreme richness and diversity of these popular arts and traditions.
Thanks to the Silk Road, the world has changed: Eastern influences transposed themselves to the west and vice versa. In the Enlightenment of the East, the National Folk Ensemble "Tumor" invites us to an extraordinary journey and will make us understand how East and West united in Uzbekistan.
