TALIJA ART COMPANY
Serbia is a state in southern Europe, part of the Western Balkans and Central Europe. It borders Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, the Republic of Macedonia, Albania and Montenegro.
Lovers of varied landscapes will be delighted when arriving in this country. To the north, in Vojvodina, lies the great Pannonian plain, a true agricultural lung of the country, separated from the rest of the country by the river Sava and the Danube. Further south are the low-mountain regions of Šumadija and Podrinje, crossed by the river Drina and the Morava respectively. To the east are the regions of Stig, Negotinska Krajina and to the southeast, Južna Srbija, more mountainous regions. In the west of Serbia, there are the Dinaric Mountains on one side, the Bay of Kotor and the Orjen Massif on the other, which are listed as UNESCO World Heritage sites.
Belgrade, the capital, called the "white city" is one of the oldest cities in Europe, with a history that spans more than seven thousand years. It is the economic center of Serbia, but also the capital of Serbian culture, education and science.
It was at the instigation of a lover of folklore that the folk ensemble "Talija Art Company" was founded in 1998.
The attractiveness of this group’s programming and representation lies in the diversity of their dances. These are regional or stylized. Each sequence is presented in a different costume and in a limited time, so the audience’s attention remains focused at its maximum, due to the speed of the dances.
This trip through the Balkans will introduce you to the costumes, music and dances typical of all parts of Serbia, including the dances of national minorities living on the territory of Serbia (Croats, Bulgarians, Romanians, Hungarians, Slovaks, Bosniaks and many others). The diversity of rhythms, picturesque costumes and dances, sometimes difficult, are aspects that bring a specific flavor in the program of this group.
The stylized dances are based on elements of Russian, Ukrainian and Bohemian folklore. The Russian and Ukrainian aspects emphasize acrobatic dances, sometimes difficult, accompanied by typical costumes and music. The Bohemian scenography is the reflection of an emotional story, through its interpretation. It is based on the spirit of the people, the travellers and their way of life.
All aspects of the performance by the folk ensemble "Talija Art Company" guarantee that the audience will have an unforgettable and magical night.
